About Us

Sherborne Chamber Choir was formed in 1979 and is comprised of around forty-five auditioned singers from Sherborne and the surrounding area who all enjoy singing a wide range of music, from the sixteenth century to the present day. We rehearse weekly during term time from September to June and give regular concerts in the wonderful setting of Sherborne Abbey, often with some of this country’s top soloists and orchestral players, and at other venues in the region, mainly of sacred music.

We have also sung abroad, at Notre Dame Cathedral, Paris, in San Gimignano and Siena Cathedral, Italy, Bruges, and Croatia and have made two CDs, Comfort, Life and Love, in aid of St Margaret’s Somerset Hospice, and Carols from Sherborne Abbey with Sherborne Abbey Choir.

To find out more about us and the repertoire we sing, see Further Information and our Concert Archives.

If you would like to receive details of our concerts by email or post, why not join our mailing list?

We regularly provide smaller groups from the choir for weddings and other special occasions: for further details see book us.
