We finish our season with a concert of glorious, often virtuosic Baroque music and two world-class soloists.
Handel’s Dixit Dominus was written when he was only 22 and on his first visit to Rome. He was clearly keen to show off his skills and the piece is full of vocal acrobatics, bright colour and driving energy.
The programme is completed by JS Bach’s wonderful Cantata BWV 51. Written for solo soprano and trumpet, it is not often performed because of the technical skill required, so this is a rare opportunity to hear it live, and by two of the top performers of our time.
