A feast of Bach for a summer’s evening. The Christmas Oratorio may be more famous, but the Ascension Oratorio also contains all the necessary elements for a festive work, including a trio of Baroque trumpets, woodwind, strings and four soloists. There’s time for our wonderful period orchestra to shine in the Orchestral Suites Nos. 2 & 3 – number 2 includes the well-known virtuoso flute solos and number 3 includes the famousAir on the G String. The motets Sing unto the Lord and The Spirit comes are both written for double-choir and are Bach at his most joyful – and his most exciting!
