Who we are and what we do

‘We were bowled over by the SCC – wonderful singing and a triumphant return to the Abbey’

Audience member, December 2021

Sherborne Chamber Choir is an auditioned group of about 45 singers from Sherborne and the surrounding region. The choir was established in 1979 and for much of its existence has been conducted by its current Musical Director, Paul Ellis. We thrive on variety and sing a wide range of repertoire, both sacred and secular, ranging from the Renaissance to the present day.

We rehearse weekly during term time from September to June and usually perform three major concerts a year, mostly in Sherborne Abbey, both a capella and with orchestra, as well as occasional concerts at other venues in the area, plus a concert in May as part of Sherborne Festival Chorus in Sherborne Abbey Festival. We also travel abroad and over the years have sung in Paris, Tuscany, Bruges and Croatia. For more details about the choir and the repertoire we sing, see Further Information and our Concert Archives.

If you would like to receive details of our concerts by email or post, why not join our mailing list?

We regularly provide smaller groups from the choir for weddings and other special occasions: for further details see book us.
