Some of the greatest choral music dedicated to the Virgin Mary from across the ages.
Including settings of the Magnificat: Stanford’s rarely heard setting for unaccompanied double choir, Finzi’s concert setting for choir and organ, Howells’ St Paul’s Service, Praetorius’ Magnificat on the 5th Tone and a setting by the Russian composer César Cui.
The programme is completed by music to start the season of Advent, including Bax This Worldes Joie and I sing of a Maiden, David Bednall Noë Noë and Britten Hymn to the Virgin.
